Citi appoints John Jacobson as Head of Equity Sales for Asia Pacific

‘John’s appointment is critical to our execution strategy for our client business. We are confident that his leadership will help us drive the advisory side of our equities business to new heights,’ said Adrian Faure. ‘John comes to Citi with significant experience in equity sales, having been in the industry for more than 27 years in a variety of roles across Australia and the Asian markets,’ he added. In his new role, John will be responsible for the entire Citi sales team across cash and derivatives product offerings. John will also work in close partnership with his counterparts in Tokyo and Sydney to offer clients the full benefits of our pan-Asian platform. ‘John’s appointment underlines our commitment to our clients and to continue to invest in our team,’ said Shahryar Mahbub. John joins Citi from Macquarie Securities where he was previously head of accounts management. He first moved to Asia in 1986 with Potter Warburg (later UBS) where he worked for 10 years in a variety of roles, including client management, head of ASEAN equities and head of distribution. After leaving UBS, John spent time at both Ellis Brady Management and Macquarie Securities in Hong Kong.
